I notice that the metaframe beta has now been removed from the citrix
website for win2k..
does anyone know if there will be a "free" fix for metframe 1.8 to enable it
to work under win2k .. or will there be a "free" upgrade ?
or is this going to be a spend more $$$ exercise if we upgrade our server to
win2k.. and spend even more on a new version of metaframe...

also on the subject of ICA protocol. on nt4ts wyse gave a free cut down
ICA program - a cut down metaframe for there own terminal's ... is there
going to be a free version of the wyse ICA program for win2k ???

lots of emphasis on the free word I know, but we're a small outfit on a
tight budget and have found nt4ts and metframe 1.8 unreliable.. and our
testing of win2k advanced server(beta) and metaframe2k (beta) have really
pleased us...

many thanks

Hi. The following is all educated guesswork ;-)

The MF1.8a beta has been removed because Win2k is about to be released. Both
the Win2k and MF1.8a betas time-expire on march 31st anyway so would be of
limited value.
I would expect that MF1.8a will be a costed upgrade, however those with
Subscription Advantage will get it for free.
There is also a MetaFrame 2.0 waiting in the wings which promises some
surprises. Maybe this will be launched in place of MF1.8a to keep distance
from M$oft Windows 2000 (with added goodies in Terminal Services).

As for the Wyse product - are you thinking of MetaFrame for Terminals? This
is a lower cost version of MetaFrame that only works with licensed
terminals.

I would guess Citrix Device Services?

In your estimation, Scott, will 2.0 be covered by the subscription
advantage?

I believe that you get all the updates in the same family, i.e. MetaFrame
1.8, 2.0, etc... but not WinFrame, UnixFrame, etc.
