I’m half wondering if anyone ever looks at this group since it seems the
last legit post to this forum was over 11 years ago.
Just curious, because I have a business today in the Silicon Valley selling
new and refurbished computers and servers, parts, plus vintage computers. We
sell a lot to international customers these days, but still get plenty of
interest from Americans on vintage.
On my trophy shelf, among many prized Mac and Amiga possessions, I have a
BeBox dual CPU PC from the original generation that still boots fine, but
it’s missing one plastic top case piece.
I purchased it after personally attending a presentation given by Jean Louis
Gasse at the Be headquarters (In Menlo Park or nearby?) years ago. I was
always amazed at the classic look of the HQ, with a car’s back seat in the
lobby, hidden on the second (or higher) floor of a building, and just being
able to sit down with other interested developers in a small meeting room to
see him demo the BeBox.
Anyway, I don’t seem to see these things anywhere any more. It seems like
maybe most of them were trashed years ago, making still-working boxen and
parts very rare.
