Not for my areas. I can go back to 3 kB/sec dial-up (have to order
copper landline services if Verizon lets me), satellite, etc. :(

I herd in states where Verizon still has copper land lines they have pretty
much abandoned the system and is in a battle with the government over it.
sad isn't it.
we got rid of them years ago in Maine.
Fairpoint does a much better job then Verizon ever did.

Fiber over copper is used in Maine BUT YOU DON'T LIVE IN MAINE SO YOU
WOULDN'T KNOW:)
it offers those who live to far from the phone company to get DSL to get
high speed internet connections.
time warner cable is testing it in Maine and it uses fiber from the cable
plant to 1 mile from youre house or apartment then the last mile is the
standard cable coax.
and yes it is used time warner does what it wants and we like it:)
