I have the following problem. I am trying to access my website(just started)
and upload a new version. I can't seem to access it through my RR cable
service. I can telnet to my school's network and access the website from
their system.
This is a tracert from my computer:

"alexandria.unixhoster.com" is the name of the webserver.
I can ping the server from my school's network, but it won't work from home.
How come, I can't access the site? I recently installed a wireless router
between the cable modem and my computer. I believe it worked until about a
week ago or so.
Can anyone help me figure this one out?
Mathias
It doesn't look like a problem with Roadrunner since your traceroute
goes out past the network and dies at hop 22.
Both ISP's resolve your domain to the same IP so it's not a dns
problem and I can traceroute there no problem.
It just appears to me that there was a problem with the
router -ge.edge1.cft.vdi.net [66.78.63.250]- at the time you performed
the traceroute from your roadrunner account at home.
Try it again and see if you can trace it this time.

I did some tests and realized that it would work if I would connect my
computer directly to the cable modem instead of going through the router. I
also noticed that the IP assigned to the computer would differ from the one
assigned to the router. I had the option in the router setup to clone the
mac address of the network adapter. After I tried that the ip of the router
was changed and I was able to browse to the website. This seems to have
resolved the issue.

You're reaching the website without problems - if you get to the last
router, it is forwarding the packet to the website. It can't
distinguish between the two source IP addresses.
What is happening is that somewhere along the reverse path to you there
is a router that does not know how to correctly route a packet to your
IP.. That is why forcing an IP change fixes the problem.

Almost every time this happens to someone with a new website, the
files he wants to view have been uploaded to the wrong directory. You
might want to make sure that your files are where RR says they need to
be.

It isn't whether you win or lose, it's where you
place the blame.
