Promoting Web Site Advice Needed

I'm in the process of planning my online shop. It's going to be offering for
sale my catalogue of dvds which are collages from UK television with regards
the war on terror aspects since 9/11. I feel there's an international
market, although I'm aware I am infringing the copyright of the various
production companies. I propose to have clips from the dvds on site which
will be free to download.

I've not got to the point yet of putting my shop together, I was considering
a free ISP initially for research purposes and to seek email responses, but
I'm aware that I'd need to promote the free ISP site and then the actual
online shop. I'd be far better starting the shop and seeing what happens.

Bearing in mind the topic of the dvds and that they're infringing copyright,
I'm looking for advice on where I should promote my web address. I'll
obviously be submitting my site to the various search engines, but where
else? How do I find out which forums to contact? How do I become aware of
which magazines to place adverts with? I consider my market to be from
initially the USA market and the politically aware.

Any advice would be warmly welcomed.
