Anyone know what a "rate code" is on a Comcast account,
and how it is applied to new and old equipment entries ?

Just picked up a uDTA for an extra bedroom,
and the "rate code" was missing on the equipment entry and it would not
activate.

Took several different Comcast calls & reps for them to figure it out...

Looking around the Comcast help forums, it appears to be a code that
tells the head end the set of channels you subscribe to.

Is the uDTA supposed to be able to tune in any channel you subscribe to?

We have a Comcast DVR - with the Digital Starter and Preferred package -
also HD -

The uDTA is the new tiny digital box that takes the place of the DTA for the
old analog channels.
It has no "on screen guide",
but merely acts as a digital tuner for the digital cable services,
BUT - only has a subset of your "package".and of course, no On Demand.

In our case - the uDTA only shows the Digital Starter channels -
but also shows them in HD - I'm guessing since that is a "whole house"
option.

I asked Comcast. The difference between the uDTA and DTA is that uDTA can
tune in HD channels.
