NOT new to the group, had to test to make sure I had things working with
motzarella. After all Comcast is getting out of the news groups.

You know, individual groups can sometimes act up. Though if it was me,
instead of saying "test" I'd just say "Looks like the new server works for
this group!" and try to send it, and if it doesn't make it through after
all, then I was mistaken in assuming it would.

Yes - I love when people believe the rules of a civilized society don't
apply to them, but expect everyone else to follow them, no matter how simple
or trivial. These must be the same people ... who cut in lines? park in
handicapped spots? spit indoors? LOL!!!!

What part of testing that a particular newsgroup provider service
allows posting to a particular newsgroup is it you are just to damn
stupid to understand?

It is no longer the 70's or 80's when bandwidth was a big deal. I
doubt anyone is running an internet capable computer with only 5 to 20
meg of drive space.

If you're so damn worried you should be trimming your post to save the
bits and bytes.

As a matter of fact that has happened to me. It seems some system
admin had put a bad code on a few of the groups they carried from a
particular feed that prevented post from getting to just those
specific groups. After about a dozen or so phone calls one of their
techs found the "block local post code" and after removing it all was
well again.

My point was back when storage was a problem the argument to trim post
and post test to only test groups was a valid argument. Today with
multi gig and even multi terabyte storage space neither is a problem
any more. To argue and bitch about one thing from those days while
doing the other sort of negates the complaint in my opinion.

And to me! Thank you for explaining it here. First time I've read the
reason behind that mess.

AnnE in MN who is about to lose newsgroups----what was that date
again?

Did you mean "too stupid" or "to stupid"? The stupidity seems to be running
wild!!!

What part of "this group is not for testing" is unclear to you?

There is no point in having this go on any further - as you seem too obtuse
to be able to follow proper netiquette.

Sometimes glitches happen, and I can refer you to someone who did have
problems with missing posts on his primary newsgroup with one server and not
another. We're still not sure why it happened though.
