HeathWatch: Lyric Benson, actress; shot by boyfriend

NEW YORK - A young actress with a promising career is now hospitalized in
extremely critical condition in New York, where police say she was shot in the
face by her ex-boyfriend.
Police say the victim's mother watched as the ex-boyfriend then shot and killed
himself.
Actress Lyric Benson had recently broken off her relationship with the man.
Acquaintances say she had become more religious and no longer wanted to live
with someone out of wedlock.
They say the ex-boyfriend had been harassing her since then.
He's identified as Robert Ambrosino, who wanted to be a New York City
firefighter. Officials say he'd taken the test, and was months away from being
hired.
According to her agents, Benson appears in a current American Express campaign
as an actress working as a waitress. She also had a small part on a recent
episode of "Law and Order: Criminal Intent."

BTW, the news said there had been some initial confusion because Robby Benson's
daughter has the same name. It's the first time I ever heard the name "Lyric",
much less that 2 women would share the exact same uncommon name.

They are not the same person.The girl listed on IMDB as Robby's daughter is not
the girl who was killed. Robby's daughter's mother's name is Karla DeVito. The
dead girl's mother's name is Deborah. Searched Google News; NY Post had Deborah
Janicke; Newsday had Deborah Benson.
I imagine Robby's family, including his daughter, are probably getting and
making a bunch of phone calls right about now.

No, it wasn't. I was confused about this at first, too, but found explainations
about it online and in the local paper.
That does not stop it from being very tragic - she died yesterday, after being
kept alive as an organ donor. And, worse for her survivors, her mother
witnessed both her murder, and the ex-boyfriend's suicide.

read it in my local paper, which I'd, perhaps naively, consider to be "doing
enough research" before posting. It clearly said she was the daughter of
Robby Benson (which I'd already figured at seeing the headline, since I
always remembered that's what he named his daughter), and I saw this thread
already in motion...I would never have believed there could be two young
actresses of the same age named Lyric Benson. I'm still skeptical that it
isn't Robby's daughter.
