Horace "Hoss" Smith, Tim McGraw's stepfather, dies
WEST MONROE, La. Horace "Hoss" Smith, stepfather of country singer Tim
McGraw, died at his home over the weekend after a lengthy illness.
McGraw's publicist, Jessie Schmidt, said today that the singer would
not comment at this time.
Smith died Saturday. He was 68.
Smith married McGraw's mother, Betty Trimble, when McGraw was
1-year-old. The singer lived with Smith until the age of 10, when Smith
and his mother divorced.
Smith, who was retired, was a member of the American Quarter Horse
Association and participated in a number of charitable events and trail
rides.
In addition to McGraw, he is survived by two daughters and six
grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a-m Wednesday in the chapel of
Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe.
