Does anyone remember a black guy who was on Hugh Hefner's "Playboy After Dark"
and also had some guest spots on Laugh In?
On playboy after dark, he would get up when the bands were playing and put on
one helluva dancing show. The best I've ever seen..
Does anyone know whom I'm speaking about and his possible whereabouts?

Thanks

Bobby

he died two years ago in a crack house in pittsburgh three days before being
honored for being the first afro-american quarterback in the league

You are referring to Joe Gilliam, not Byron, who didn't die in a crack house,
and died in Knoxville, not Pittsburgh, last year, not in 1999.

You're thinking of the comedian Stu Gilliam, who appeared on Laugh In and
Playboy After Dark

...FWIW, the IMDb claims Byron and Stu are/were the same person...then
again, on matters such as these, the IMDb seems to have a reputation for
accuracy only marginally superior to that of the Weekly World News...

Byron and Stu were not the same person.
Stu was a stand up with a dry sense of humor
Bryon never told jokes on Laugh in. He was usually just an extra used in
special spots, especially the Mod Party where people usually danced.
He did occasionally do a singing number on Playboy after dark.
Their voices were very different.

Sounds like Stu Gilliam, but I don't remember him dancing...
Stu was on the old Dean Martin show from time to time (along with
other whatever happened to's like Stanley Myron Handleman, the Times
Square Two and Skiles and Henderson) and had his own series, "Roll
Out" or "Roll em out" about a transportation unit in World War II. As
far as I know, he is still with us.

Has anyone gotten to the bottom of the Kim Walker story yet?

Me, I'm a whitey, and a lot of white folk look the same to me.

Mind you, I'm livin' in a rural area....

I've been trying to get to the bottom
Of this, too.
Re-runs of laugh- in have resurfaced on
TV.
I've only found vague info on Byron
Gilliam on the Webb.
He passed away some time ago in Wisconsin.
Stu and Byron are two different people.
Trust me.

Byron Gilliam was a regular for half of the third season (he later returned as a dancer only) on "Laugh-In, and was also the assistant choreographer. He almost always displayed his bare stomach, and was VERY sexy.

Byron Gilliam (b.10-03-1940;d.10-22-1990) Was the groovey dancer and spot comedian on Laugh-In seasons 2-5. There's not much else on him that i could find.

Byron "Stu" Gilliam (b.07-23-33;d.10-11-2013) appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show, Playboy After Dark, and The Dean Martin Show. He was also on Laugh-in during season 3 as a skit comedian.

I have a side by side pic but don't know how to upload it. there's no "select attachment" button.
