Norman Lambert, founder of Lambert's "Home of Throwed Rolls" Cafe in
Sikeston, MO, took his own life Monday, June 10, 1996. The restaurant
is a tourist attraction known apparently throughout the midwest. The
moniker, "home of throwed rolls", originated when the restaurant was so
small and crowded that waiters couldn't easily reach customers, so rolls
were thrown to them. Even though the restaurant was enlarged, and other
branches were opened, the practice continued. The original restaurant
was opened in 1941. A second one was opened in Ozark, MO, and a third
is planned in Foley, Ala. Mr. Lambert was 62.

My, what an enterprising 7 year old Mr. Lambert must have been. But
having been to his restaurant, I must pay my respects to a fine
restauranteur and builder of an American institution.

Jeez!! I'm originally from Sikeston, MO and this is the first I heard of
this! If anyone who could give me some more info on this, I would be very
appreciative... I've eaten at three of the original sites of Lambert's
and, needless to say, it's been a big part of my journeys back home for
quite a few years.. wow.

Wow...I've eaten at Lambert's in Sikeston, and I saw Norman greeting his cusomers in his usual friendly way...would his
suicide have anything to do with losing his son at an early age in an automobile accident? I believe his son was about 16 or so, in
high school.

Norman got cancer and didn't want to be a burden to his family. He mowed front and back yard, washed both cars, then blew his brains out with hand-gun.
