WATERTOWN, N.Y. Danny Burgess, a longtime on-air personality in
northern New York broadcasting, has died.
Burgess was 79 when he died yesterday at a nursing home in
Watertown, where he had worked in radio and television for much
of his 40-year career in broadcasting.
Former colleagues say Burgess was the star of W-W-N-Y T-V as its
weatherman and host of a kids' show. His show had its start in
1958 and ended with his retirement 32 years later.
Burgess was born Daniel Bonacci in Rochester. After attending
Ithaca College, he worked at several radio stations in upstate
New York before landing a job as an on-air personality at a
Watertown station.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow in Watertown.
