In the late 1980s Joseph told The Enquirer of Jerry's years of
physical and mental abuse as a father. Jerry responded by permanently
disowning Joseph...

Just figured out a strange association:
A woman named Suzan has had DNA tests done, which she
claims show that she and Gary Lewis are siblings. Gary
agrees.
The association?
Suzan and Tiger Woods' mistress Rachel Uchitel are cousins.

JERRY LEWIS - LEWIS' SON: 'FATHER PARTLY RESPONSABLE FOR BROTHER'S DEATH'

I interviewed Gary Lewis before a performance Gary Lewis & the
Playboys at the Mesker Amphitheatre in - of all places - Evansville,
Indiana during the summer of 1967 (I know it was summer, but I'm
guessing at the year).
Most of my interviews were much longer and in much more depth, but I
must admit to not being that interested in the assignment - probably
because I wasn't all that fond of their music.
In any event, I asked a couple of the usual questions about his famous
father and all I got in response were glowingly wonderful comments
about how much his father supported what he did and helped his career.
Perhaps Gary doesn't need his father's help any more.

I read the quotes. It doesn't sound like anything Gary's said before,
at least on the record. Also, the quotes were pulled from a story in
the Globe, a particularly bad supermarket tabloid.
I'm going with "fake" unless Gary steps up and confirms the quotes.
As for Susan being Jerry's daughter, there's no real controversy about
that. Gary went behind Jerry's back and arranged for a DNA test to
shut Susan up, but it turned out that Gary and Susan were an 88% match.
The TV show Inside Edition did another test and confirmed the results
of the first.
Gary was drafted in 1967 and the band disbanded. I vaguely remembered
and decided to verify and found this interesting interview:

Must have been the summer of '66. Funny he didn't mention his mother's
contribution back then.
BTW - if I remember correctly the interview was only with him and not
the other members of his band. Then that was the same with people like
Arthur Lee of Love, Sonny & Cher and Barry McGuire and their backup
bands.
BTW2 - I also interviewed the Byrds when they played Mesker
Amphitheatre, but it wasn't a particularly good interview because the
atmosphere suddenly went very cold after I asked if there was any
illusion to drugs in "Eight Miles High.." My first interviews with
them were at The Trip on Sunset Blvd and were at the behest of their
then manager, Derek Taylor (ex-Beatles). Those interviews were very
intense, but also very productive. Unfortunately, I can't say the same
for the later interview at the amphitheatre. Roger McGuinn was not
amused.
Great little story. Thanks for sharing Bob...
