I've caught Pat a couple of times recently on some show he does for one
of the shitkicker religion networks. (He sings bouncy feel-good songs
about Jesus.) I've noticed that Pat, who used to have a reputation for
looking far younger than his years, all of a sudden doesn't. He's got
wattles under his chin and an old man's mouth.

I'm suprised he was able to continue appearing on religious television
following his infamous Heavy Metal cover CD he did a couple years ago.
On my radio show I'm planning an April Fools joke on my audience in which I'll
play a cut from his "In a Metal Mood" CD; it was actually a very well produced
piece of work but one can't take it too seriously. Pat Boone has many friends
in the Hard Rock scene including his golfing buddy Alice Cooper.
Also, he was probably the only person who was interviewed in Michael Moore's
"Roger and Me" documentary who didn't wind up suing Moore; I've heard where
Michael Moore still has twenty or so outstanding lawsuits against him from
making that film.

I once had a copy of Pat Boone's "Twixt Twelve and Twenty," a combination
autobiography/advice book for troubled teens. The most interesting thing about
it is the emphasis Pat put on all the spankings his mother gave him, and how
grateful he was for it.

Susan Barrows, a Georgia entertainer/comedienne/disc jockey, once did a
hilarious reading of "the good parts" of Boone's book, bringing out the pervy
undertones of his wholesome image. And this was LONG before his whole "heavy
metal" phase!
