Kasey Rogers
1926-2006
It is with great fondness that we remember our First Lady of Advertising,
Kasey Rogers, who played Louise Tate in 35 episodes of Bewitched. Kasey
passed away on July 6. After several cancer battles and a stroke, Kasey
passed on surrounded by friends and family.
Just a few short months ago, Kasey made a lovely video to express her
gratitude to the fans who have supported her through this web site from
around the world. This video captures her courage, class, and graciousness.

So, as far as I know, the site I linked to has her year of birth wrong. It
should be 1925 and not 1926.

Is everyone on that program now gone except Tabitha and Dr. Bombay?

Alice Ghostley ("Esmerelda") is still alive.
In addition to Erin Murphy ('Tabitha'), Bernard Fox ('Dr. Bombay'), and
Alice Ghostley ('Esmerelda')...
Diane Murphy - She and twin sister Erin shared the role in the 3rd
season, but Erin was more natural on camera and gradually assumed most
of the screen time. Diane continued as a stand-in for Erin thru the 5th
season.
David & Greg Lawrence ('Adam,' 8th season)
Counting recurring guest actors (Fox's status, although his 'Dr.
Bombay' was so over-the-top, that he's usually remembered as a
regular)...
Bernie Kopell ('Apothecary' in a handful of episodes, a client, and
other misc. characters)
Charles Lane (various clients)
Dick Wilson (the drunk, and various clients)
Brent
She was memorable in Alfred Hitchcock's "Strangers On A Train", as the
outspoken ex-wife of the tennis star (Farley Granger). Ironically,
another "Bewitched" cast member also appeared in that Hitchcock film:
Marian Lorne, who portrayed the senile aunt 'Clara' from the series'
debut in 1964 to her passing in 1968. I believe Kasey Rogers appeared
regularly on the series "Peyton Place", and I recall a guest appearance
or two on "Lucy" circa 1970. For someone with such a prolific and
impressive resume of work as a character actress, Miss Rogers seems to
have ended her (tv/film) career rather early, some 30 years ago. But
perhaps like many actors, she worked on stage rather than screen.
As a child growing up in the 1960s-early '70s, I enjoyed "Bewitched"
and I'm sorry to hear of the passing of one of it's few remaining cast
members.
To be honest, I was unaware or had forgotten she was on a TV series as
well.
RIP

She was also in Peyton Place and Perry Mason, but this is something
few people knew about her:

Bewitched's - " Kasey Rogers"
Background
In order for a sport to succeed, there needs to be dedicated people
who devote their lives for the cause. Kasey Rogers is one of those
people. From the age of 20, Kasey was a professional actor.
In 1971, her son expressed an interest in getting a motorcycle. "You
want WHAT?" she said. She got him one and started taking him to
Indian Dunes on Friday evenings. He won his first race. Then, she
started taking him on Sundays as well. At this point, she was getting
the bug.
Kasey bought her first bike, a Honda 500-4 street bike. Those silly
guys at the shop where she bought it let her ride it home. She
couldn't turn it around in a cul-de-sac. She made it though and for
Christmas she got her first 125cc dirt bike.
In 1972, she seriously began riding. She also wrote a Powder Puff
column for Modern Cycle Magazine and doing feature stories on the
mini-cycle nationals and other racing events.
1974 was a great year for women in the sport as Kasey established the
PURR "PowderPuffs Unlimited Riders and Racers" association. This same
year, the first ever Powder Puff National was held on July 6 & 7th at
Indian Dunes Motorcycle under her guidance.
Sue Fish was the woman to beat during this time. Kasey continued to
promote women's racing throughout the 70's which proved to be a decade
she won't miss for anything.
In 1975, Kasey met the Superbowl of Motocross promoter and persuaded
him to allow 10 of the top women to compete in an Women's Invitational
Trophy Dash at the Los Angeles Coliseum before 80,000 spectators. The
night proved to be a great success, one to go down in history.
Not only did Kasey promote during the 70's, she also competed when she
could. Dubbed "Wrong Way Rogers", Kasey raced with the Dirt Diggers
during their grand prix events at well known Southern California
motorcycle parks.
In 1977, she stopped racing because her son phased out of racing and
with no one to wrench on her bikes or go with her, she phased out too.
Accomplishments
Kasey Rogers not only is a pioneer of women's motocross, she is
well-know for her role as Louise Tate (Larry Tate's wife) on
"Bewitched".
Women supporters from all walks of life have contributed to what is
known as women's motocross today. If it wasn't for Kasey, the Powder
Puff class of yesterday may not have developed into what is know as
the Women's Pro class today.
Thank You Kasey, for paving the way for all of us who has dared to
climb on a motorcycle and do what most won't.

Really!? I thought she'd be long gone
Thanks Brent.
And I had forgotten all about Kasey Rogers having played in Strangers on a
Train as the murder victim
In the mostly-forgotten spinoff series "Tabitha" (in which Darren and Samantha's
little girl had inexplicably aged from about six to her early 20s in something
like five years), there was virtually no crossover of cast regulars or recurring
guests...exceptions include:
Abner and Gladys Kravitz (George Tobias in a full beard, and Sandra Gould)
Dr Bombay (Bernard Fox, in two of the twelve episodes)
Dick Wilson (a neighbor, always appearing drunk and bewildered; he may not have
been the same character who was always in Darren's favorite bar but the
implication was certainly there)

It's the crack on the wall and the stain on the cup that gets to you
in the very end...every cat has its fall when it runs out of luck,
so you can do with a touch of zen...cause when you're screwed,
you're screwed...and when it's blue, it's blue.
She had a stroke a couple of years ago but I haven't seen any updates
on her in quite a while. I think she is about 80 years old now. Every
time I hear anything about her, I immediately have "The Boston Beguine"
going through my head!
"That was the story of my one romance there
Our sense of adventure didn't stand a chance there
How could we hope to enjoy all the pleasures ahead
When the books we should have read
Were all supressed in Boston?"

(Any mistakes in the lyrics are due to my Teflon-coated memory --
nothing sticks to it!)
Also to add...Kasey Rogers, Sandra Gould, and Dick Sargent all have one
thing in common (OK two things, now that they are all dead). All three
were the second actors to play their respective "Bewitched" roles. And
according to Wikipedia, Irene Vernon, the actress Ms. Rogers replaced,
is still off-topic...
My bad regarding Ms. Vernon. IMDB shows she died in 1998 at 76 (which
is old for 'Bewitched' actors)
Roy Roberts, the 2nd actor to play 'Frank Stephens.'
Robert F. Simon had it from seasons 1 - 3, Roberts took over for 4 - 6;
Simon returned for the character's final appearance in the 7th year.

It isn't your fault. IMDB is notorious for misinformation.

That's not irony, Alanis, that's a coincidence. (-:
Actually, I think wikipedia would more likely be the correct answer before
imdb. Maybe not in this case, but until confirmation I would trust wiki
more.
