Antequera man dies after accidentally setting himself alight

A 47 year old man from Antequera died in hospital in last Friday, two
weeks after he was seen enveloped in flames on a street in the San Juan
district of the town. Named by Diario Sur as J.V.C., he suffered burns
to 80% of his body, and was transferred from Antequera's district
hospital for specialised care in the Carlos Haya Hospital in M�laga.
It was initially thought that he had intentionally set himself alight,
but police investigations have now shown that his death was accidental.
Detectives from the National Police determined that he had bought
rubbing alcohol from a local store on the day it happened, 6th November,
which, when infused with rosemary, is a traditional remedy for aches and
pains.
He is reported to have gone into the street after rubbing the alcohol on
his body, lit a cigarette, and accidentally set himself alight.
