Very impressive list, David. How about Ara Parseghian? A/D ?

Thanks, David. There were some surprises on that list for me. I
didn't know Connie Kreski and Willy Rey were dead. (IIRC, Willy is
the one they put on the stock certificate on Playboy's first stock
issue back around 1972. Centerfolds 'R Us.)

BTW, the frame came through as HTML code on my Mac with IE. I had to
paste everything into a translator.

Also missed...and miss...Connie Kreski, what a beauty, plus gravity defying
breasts.

Wasn't she also married to, and beat up by, James Caan?

Or a football coach at Notre Dame.

To answer the original question, as far as I know, Parseghian is still
alive.

Their deaths do not seem to follow the normal statistics for women. No heart
disease/heart attack and only 2 out of 17 from cancer. Car wrecks, murder, and
ODs lead the way. Also, I thought Carol Wayne was a Playmate?

And football coach at Northwestern University - there at the same time as me,
Richard Gephardt, Richard Benjamin, Paula Prentiss (née Ragusa), and Penny
Fuller.

(OK, that was name-dropping, but I never knew any of those people personally,
though I used to see Richard Benjamin around campus - he was the skinny guy
with the silly grin, green zits, and a wobbly head that always seemed too big
for his body. Rich G. was more or less ubiquitous, running for sophomore class
president or something. Changed his nickname to Dick when he went into
Democrat politics.)

The direct route also yielded raw HTML code. Since you've had no other
reports, I assume there's something wrong on my end. Thanks for the

Ara Parseghian was the football coach at Notre Dame while I was in high
school, and A Great Catholic -- as long as he kept winning. However,
it's also a great name for a Playmate. (I'd love to see the fact
sheet.)

One of the few things I enjoy about football every year is watching
Notre Dame alumni eat the football coach raw if he dares to fall below
.750.

I can't find anything that says Kreski was ever married to anybody.

Carol Wayne posed for Playboy, but it was one of their celebrity pictorials,
rather than as a "Playmate of the Month" centerfold.

Here are a couple more to add to the list:

Missy Cleveland (Miss April 1979) died on August 14, 2001, though I don't know
the cause of death.

And, although I don't remember the details, I remember that Playboy ran an
obituary for Betty Blue (Miss November 1956) some time ago...sorry I can't
remember more, but this really only stuck in my mind because of that name.

Gail Stanton (June 1978) should be added to the list with a date
of death of November 21, 1996. Caskets On Parade has the cause
as "intestinal blockage & kidney failure" but I seem to recall
that she had terminal cancer.

I think desscribe's right. Here's why:

IMDb says Betty Blue was born on 14 August 1931.

I googled a 1997 mention of Betty. This is from Luke Ford's "History
of Porn":

> Ted Paramore's first marriage ended quickly in divorce in 1953.

Finally, the National Obituary Archive has a listing for a Betty
Paramore who was born on 14 August 1931 and died in Los Angeles, CA on
23 August 2000.

Rebekka Armstrong is alive and an AIDS activist. At last report, a few
weeks ago, she was experiencing some discomfort after a sustained period of
reasonably good & pain free health. She's from the city in which I live, so
there are regular updates on her health & activities in the local press.

He was involved with Kreski in the early 70s -- & he spent practically the

But IIRC Ryan did appear on the cover of PB in the mid 70s.

I understand the fascination with former Playmates. (I like to still stay in touch with some friends I had in childhood myself.)

But I discern some surprising bias here. Sure, the impact on American culture of the late Hefner was many magnitudes greater than that of the late Bob Guccione. So there (au?)naturally is vastly more interest in onetime Playboy Playmates than there is in former Penthouse Pets. And while Playmate obits of course show up in alt-obits from time to time, I can't recall ever seeing a Pet obit here.

(Now, the occasional pet obit for sure, but that's a horse of a different color.)

Speaking of the late Bob Guccione:

He expired Wednesday, October 20, 2010 (the day after Tom Bosley died), after an especially nasty bout with cancer, and here are two things that surprised me about the publishing mogol:

(1) His full name was Robert Charles Joseph Edward Sabatini Guccione (Not sure whether survivor son Bob Guccione Jr. is fully so named);

and

(2) According to some magazine piece a decade or so ago, the Titans of ***s Hugh Hefner and Bob Guccione met only once. No idea where, much less which date, that this Summit of Sexuality happened. But it was at some party, and as the reporter described it, they chatted only briefly. (Can anyone here detail that extraordinary encounter?)
