MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Former Wisconsin Attorney General Bronson La Follette has died at age 82.

Joyce-Ryan Funeral Home, in Madison, said funeral arrangements for La Follette are being finalized Friday.

La Follette, who passed away Thursday, was first elected attorney general in 1964 and served two consecutive 2-year terms. He was elected again in 1976 and served three 4-year terms. He ran for governor in 1968 but lost to incumbent Gov. Warren Knowles.

La Follette was son of U.S. Sen. Robert La Follette Jr. and grandson of U.S. Sen. Robert La Follette Sr., also known as "Fighting Bob" La Follette.

He retired from public service in 1986 and lived in Madison.

Texas just had our 2018 primaries. George P. Bush won his primary for land
commissioner. The only thing any of his radio and TV ads said about him
was that he supported Trump in 2018. That was his whole election message,
and he won.

Andrew White made it into the Democrat runoff for governor. I saw his ads
on TV. They made two points. 1) After Hurricane Harvey, he helped flood
victims somehow. I remember the one photo of him walking through knee-deep
water, maybe holding a dog? 2) His father was former Gov. Mark White. Cue
the photo of him next to his father. That was his message: "You should
vote for me for governor because I helped flood victims and my father was
governor."

Wait ... I want to get this right, so let me just quote it from his web
site: "My dad, Mark White, governor of Texas in the 1980s, taught by
example what it means to lead sacrificially. I experienced that firsthand
during the Harvey flood when I used my small fishing boat to rescue people
stranded by rising water." Yeah, what I wrote the first time.

I think I've decided I'm not going to vote for a relative of a politician
ever again. They never live up to the name, and by never, I'm going all
the way back to John Quincy Adams. Dubya was a good governor of Texas, but
as president, he was inferior to 41. Find me one counterexample. And don't
say FDR, because Teddy was better.

So how does Benjamin Harrison compare to his president-for-one-month
grandfather?

The World Trade Center towers MUST rise again,
at least as tall as before...or terror has triumphed.

In article <p8i2c4$vfl$1...@gioia.aioe.org>, David Carson
Adlai Stevenson. John Connally.

Which Stevenson do you consider superior to which other Stevenson?

Texas governor John B. Connally was superior or inferior to which
relative?
