I am trying to find out what happened to Rupert Webster, the boy who
plays Bobby Phillips in my favourite film, Lindsay Anderson's If. . . .
(1969). Someone told me he was murdered in a New York subway in the
early seventies, but I haven't been able to find any particulars. I'm
not even sure he's English, but it's very likely. How would one be able
to get in touch with relatives - if any - or find out where Webster is
burried? Much obliged,
H u b e r t .
Hi, Hubert. If you are unsure of a person's status, please put a
question mark after the name.
According to IMDb, he only made the one film, which they list as
released in 1968; no date of death is listed, but the IMDb is not 100%
reliable about these things. It is a little odd for a young actor to
get a good role in a well-distributed film and never work again.
Good luck,
MattH
Which one was Bobby Phillips? I can't quite place him, but perhaps if you
described his role (or any particular scenes that he had), it might jog my
memory. (Unfortunately, I can't give you any more information on him in any
case...)
