I did not see any notice in this group for Bud Abbott Jr., so I'll fill
in the details for anybody who's interested.

Bud Abbott Jr., son of the straight man from the legendary comedy team
Abbott & Costello, died suddenly Jan. 19 of an apparent heart attack in
Valencia, California. He was 57.
He was a film technician in the late 1950s at Universal Studios, but
during the 1960s he tried acting, appearing on several tv shows of the
time such as "The Jack Benny Show" and "The Baileys of Balboa". He
eventually gave up acting and worked behind the scenes again, settling
at Hollywood Film Enterprises as an optical cameraman, a position he
maintained for 22 years.
In 1988 he left the company and pursued various Abbott & Costello
projects, including forming Abbott & Costello Enterprises with his
sister and Lou Costello's daughters.
He is survived by a a daughter, grandson, and sister.

The above was extracted from an obit published in Weekly Variety,, Feb.
10-16 1997 issue.

Jerry Seifeld had a feature on Abbott and Costello and a segment
interviewed Bud Abbott Jr. and frankly he did not look very healthy on
film.

In a bio of the team of which Bud Sr. was such an important part, his
father
was quoted as being quite bitter about how the phone stopped ringing and
all his so-called friends melted away after the good times and the very
frequent weekend parties at the Abbott home stopped.
