I'm not sure who he was on the show. He definitly wasn't one of the
(only) three continuing male characters. Did he appear as a guest star
on more than one episode?
I checked his IMDB entry, and it appears that he has only starred in a
number of "erotic thrillers" such as "Indecent Behavior" and "Mirror
Images II".
How sad... I have been watching Sliders for the last few monthe. Was he
the one they call "Q-Ball"? Have started to like the show very much.

There's no regular character on SLIDERS named Cutter, and Ed Hall's
excellent SLIDERS site doesn't mention that one's been added for the third
season. Steadman must have been a guest star.
The MSNBC site had a brief story about the death that was posted over in
alt.tv.sliders. Here it is:
HOLLYWOOD, Sept. 20 -- A dune buggy
overturned Friday on the San Bernardino County
set of Fox Television's Sliders, killing one actor
and injuring another, reported KCBS-TV.
The accident occurred Friday morning at El
Mirage Dry Lake, near Victorville.
Kenneth Steadman, 27, of Sherman Oaks was
taken by helicopter to San Bernardino County
Medical Center but died there shortly after 1 p.m.
The other actor, whose name was withheld, was
treated at Victor Valley Community Hospital for
minor injuries, said Libby Gill, a spokeswoman for
MCA/Universal Television Group.
Steadman played Cutter on the hour-long
science fiction show, which headed into its third
season Friday night.
According to Channel 2, Steadman was at the
wheel of the dune buggy. He was supposed to
drive to the center of the lake bed and was making
a turn when the vehicle overturned. Neither actors
were wearing seat belts said a San Bernardino
County deputy coroner investigator.

Actor Killed, Another Injured, on Desert Set of TV Show `Sliders'
ADELANTO, Calif. (AP) -- An actor was killed and another injured Friday on
the set of the Fox action-adventure TV series ``Sliders'' when a dune
buggy they were riding in overturned in a dry, desert lake bed,
authorities said.
Kenneth Keith Steadman, 27, of Sherman Oaks was rushed by helicopter to
San Bernardino County Medical Center after the 11:50 a.m. accident at El
Mirage Dry Lake, said Randy Emon, a county deputy coroner investigator.
He arrived at the hospital at 1 p.m. in full cardiac arrest and died four
minutes later, Emon said.
The other actor, who was not identified, was treated for minor injuries at
a hospital and released, said Libby Gill, a spokeswoman for the
MCA/Universal Television Group, makers of the program.
Both actors were guest-starring on the series.
The dune buggy had seatbelts, but the men were not using them at the time
of the accident, Emon said.
``Ken Steadman was a young and fabulous actor,'' said his manager, Susan
Ferris. ``He was a very cool guy, very talented.''
A native of northern Washington state, Steadman moved to Los Angeles five
years ago to pursue acting, Ferris said. His career was just starting to
blossom with guest spots last season on ``NYPD Blue'' and ``Baywatch'' and
on Thursday night's premiere of the new CBS show ``Moloney,'' she said.
El Mirage Dry Lake, northwest of Adelanto, is in the Southern California
desert about 60 miles east of Los Angeles.

No, "Q-Ball" is the nickname given to the star, Jerry O'Connell's
character "Quinn", by another of the characters.
I think the guy who died was in at least 2-3 eps in the first
season, the pilot and the one where he helps the Prof make an
atomic bomb. He was Quinn's fellow physics student.
Sandra
No, he wasn't. The character Cutter is not a regular, but a one-shot.
The physics student you're talking about is played by Jason Gaffney, who's
alive and well.
