The Associated Press reports the death of the woman
known to porno fans as Linda Lovelace of Deep Throat,
otherwise known as Linda Boreman and Linda Boreman Marchiano.

She had been in an automobile accident April 3rd and died
today(the 22nd) from injuries she then sustained,having
been hospotalized since.

The article confusingly says that she and Larry Marchiano
divorced in 1996 after 25 years of marriage, and that she
and her previous husband, not named but said to have
forced her into porno at gunpoint, divorced in 1973.

It is also claimed that Deep Throat grossed $600 million!!

She claimed not to have made an 8mm movie, prior to her appearance in
Deep Throat, where she was in violent congress with a dog. This was
about 1973. So lovable Al Goldstein of Screw Magazine posted a clip
from the film in his rag showing it was unmistakenly her. She was
exploited okay, making a fast $250 for a film which has grossed almost
half a billion dollars worldwide and CONTINUES to make money to this
day. Sic Transit Gloria Mundi etc.

They're talking about 2 different ex-husbands. The first one is the one she
claimed forced her into pornography, abused her, etc. She was married to
the second husband for 25 years, and he says they were still best friends,
even though they divorced in 1996.

I presume that prior to making the film LL signed some sort of
contract, and one of the elements of the contract was how much she
would be paid for her appearance in the film. If she did indeed
receive that sum of money, then her involvement with the film is
*over*, regardless of whether it made $100 or $100 Billion. It's her
own fault for not negotiating a better deal.

Does that make me a "real" libertarian?

You've read her contract, I presume? You have all the accounting
records from the production company, and bank deposits into Ms.
Lovelace's accounts? Or are you basing all of this on what "she" said,
with her bias and axe to grind?

Fraud would be for the courts to decide. Did this case ever go to
trial? What was the verdict? Or was she just belly-aching all these
years, with no real case?

The really tacky thing is that the porn-spammers have wasted no time in using
her death as an excuse to hawk their wares as a supposed "tribute." Last night
I got an e-mail with the subject line "Linda Lovelace R.I.P." I thought it
might be from somebody on alt.obits, so I opened it, and got the following
message:

"The Adult Film Industry lost one of it's true pioneers when Porn Star Linda
Lovelace passed from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on April 3rd.

Linda was known for her staring role in the 1972 classic "Deep Throat".
"Deep Throat" was a groundbreaking sex film that starred Linda as a woman who
couldn't have an orgasm until she realizes that her clit is in her throat.
"Deep Throat" has made Linda's name synonymous with oral sex for the past 25
years.

I've read this. I'm also informed that the movie cost only
$25,000 to make. Heluva Net!

My girlfriend, Bobbie, and i went to see this back in 1973.
After the show, we walked out into the lobby. Leaning up
against the far wall was an old man in a trenchcoat.

Without thinking, Bobbie said, "Man, I am SO HUNGRY!"
The old guy broke up. He laughed and laughed, while
Bobbie realized what she'd said. Then we all cracked up,
everyone in the lobby rolling on the floor laughing their bells
off.

Then we went and got something to eat <g>!

I remember the video of "Deep Throat" being on sale back in early 1980,
when all of the videos available in the whole world would fit on the
shelves of a not-very-large store. They wanted $130 or so for it, a
not-outrageous price in those days. Those sales must have factored
into (you should pardon the expression) the gross.
