Can't find a cause, but the site below has a long bio on Morgan and says that
he appeared to be in good health the day before his death and that he died in
his sleep.

The only thng I can find says "natural causes".

From what I recall, Morgan died from a massive loss of blood. It was even
shown on TV, surely you remember, it all happened when he donated his heart,
brains and intestinal fortitude. Oh, and a trip to Kansas didn't help
either.

That sight seems to have a broken link but I believe his passing was around
1950 and he had finished some scenes of the movie version of Annie Get Your

Morgan died of a heart attack on September 18, 1949 at the age of 59.

As good as any reaosn..Frank Morgan died in 1949 at the age of 60 (b.New York
City,NY, in 1889, was 50 when WoO came out in 1939.)

Longtime MGM-Radio faovrite and MGM-movie character actor.By the way did you
know Morgan played 5 roles?

He was:
1.Woizard
2.Prof.Maarvelk
3.The Cockney Horse and buggy driver
4.The Guard
5.The Wizard's right hand man - the second character who was at the door saying
Dorothy, Tin man et al could not see the Wizard.

GREAT actor!!
