Longtime Green Bay Packers Equipment Manager Dies at 81

John H. "Jack" Noel, who worked for the Green Bay Packers as an
assistant equipment manager for more than 30 years, died Friday at an
area hospital. He was 81.

Noel also managed the visitors' locker room during his time with the
Packers.

Working at Lambeau Field was a family affair for Noel. He and his
brother, Bob, started as assistants to longtime Packers equipment
manager G.E. "Dad" Braisher. When Bob Noel succeeded Braisher as
equipment manager in 1977, Jack remained as his assistant. They stayed
in those jobs until retiring in 1993.

According to an obituary prepared by the family, Jack Noel also helped
his sons and grandsons get their first jobs at Lambeau Field.

A 1945 graduate of Central Catholic High School, Noel also worked for
the city as a manager in its printing department. He is survived by
his wife of 55 years, Doris; two daughters, three sons, six
grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, a brother, a sister and a sister-
in-law.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E.
Mason St., then at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church,
936 Ninth St. The funeral Mass willl be at 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Noel, John H. "Jack"


John H. "Jack" Noel, 81, Green Bay resident, passed away Friday, Oct.
5, 2007, at an area hospital, surrounded by his family. Jack was born
on July 27, 1926 in Green Bay to the late Mitchel and Emma (De Prey)
Noel. Jack was a graduate of Central Catholic High School in 1945. On
Sept. 27, 1952, he married Doris Olsen. They enjoyed 55 years of
marriage. He liked hunting and fishing and time with his
grandchildren. He especially loved the Packers, with whom he was
employed as an assistant equipment manager. He took his sons and
grandsons to the stadium where they got their first jobs. Jack also
enjoyed wood carving. Jack was also employed as a Printing Department
Manager at City Hall.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Doris, Green Bay; two
daughters, Suzan (John) Macco, De Pere; Nancy Noel (fiancee, Jim
Eichhorn), Green Bay; three sons, Michael Noel, London, England; Roger
Noel, Eagle River, Wis.; Gerald (Dr. Hongyu Rao) Noel, Madison; six
grandchildren, Michael (Beth), Lombard, Ill. and Nicholas (fiance,
Ashley), Cleveland, Tenn.; SSgt David (Beha), in Iraq; Ashley (fiance,
Scott) and Tom Wierzchowski, Green Bay; Maggie Lixue Noel, Madison;
two step grandchildren, John Wierzchowski and Jennifer Brown. Jack is
also survived by his brother, Richard Noel, Green Bay; sister, Frances
Weber, Green Bay; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Noel, Green Bay.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his
brothers, his twin, Gerald, in infancy, Bob, and Roger; his sister,
Ruth Wautlet.

Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. on
Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. Parish Wake Service at 7p.m. Visitation will
continue on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Church,
corner of Ninth and Twelfth Street. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30
a.m. Entombment will be in the Allouez Catholic Chapel Mausoleum.
