It was reported from Sao Paulo, Brazi, that Fabian Bielinsky, who
directed the critically acclaimed movie "Nine Queens," died Wednesday,
June 28, 2006, of a suspected heart attack, the Argentine consulate
said, at the age of 47.
Bielinsky was best known for his 2000 film "Nine Queens," which
received prizes at festivals in Biarritz, Bogota, Lima and Olso.
Last Monday, he received a prize for his 2005 film "The Aura," about a
taxidermist who plans the perfect crime.
Bielinsky, an Argentine citizen, was reportedly working on a new film
in Sao Paulo when he died Wednesday in a hotel room where he was alone.
Authorities were still investigating the cause of death and police were
interviewing people who had seen him during his last hours, local media
reported.

Something else I read said he was doing casting for a
commercial, both scenarios being likely.
This is very sad. What a wonderful surprise Nine Queens
was. When we went to see it, we were so wrapped up in the
plot details that a number of us in the audience walked
together up Broadway, kept talking on the crosstown bus, and
compared notes on the film all the way home.
How many films can you think of like that?
Poor man.
