David Dean Markell

1946-2008

David Dean Markell died Monday, November 10 at Providence St. Joseph's
Medical Center after a lengthy battle with melanoma skin cancer. His
wife Bobbie was by his side.

David was born in Tracy, Minnesota on August 22, 1946. He attended
Marshall Minnesota public schools and attended Augustana Lutheran
University in Sioux Falls, South Dakota majoring in Theatre Arts. He
also was a member of the college football team "The Augies."

After graduating in 1968 he entered the United States Pilot Training
Program and was assigned to the Pentagon as a Lieutenant for two
years.

David settled in Los Angeles in the early 70's and began an acting
career that would span two decades.

In the early 90's he walked away from a successful career and directed
his life along a new path.

He obtained a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology at
Pepperdine University. He worked at a Treatment Center in Tarzana for
five years.

For the rest of his life he continued counseling pro bono for those in
need and unable to pay.

He returned to show business in 1996 working behind the camera on the
NBC entertainment show Access Hollywood.

David is survived by his wife Bobbie, his mother Mae, stepson Nicolas
and fiancee Joelle. His younger stepson Dusty Read predeceased him in
death in December 2006 after succumbing to brain cancer.

David loved animals and memorial contributions can be made to: The
Best Friends Animal Society, 5001 Angel Canyon Road, Kanab, Utah
84741-5000. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 22 at
The Little Church of the Flowers, Forest Lawn, Glendale.
