Lady Heald, CBE, DStJ, who has died aged 99, was the second wife, and
widow, of the Rt Hon Sir Lionel Heald, PC, QC, who was Attorney-General
in Sir Winston Churchill's Government from November, 1951, until
resigning to return to private practice nearly three years later.

She was the former Daphne Constance Price, daughter of Montague Price,
and was born in 1904. She married Sir Lionel as his second wife in
1929. Her husband was Conservative MP for Chertsey. He died in
November, 1981, aged 84.

She was connected with many voluntary organisations; appointed CBE in
1976, and Dame of the Order of St John.

Her home was Chilworth Manor, Guildford, Surrey.

She was the mother of two sons, and one daughter. Her son, Mervyn
Heald, QC, died in March, 2004.
