David Starr dies of heart attack

The Desert Sun
February 2, 2006

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
David Starr, one-half of the desert styling team Beauty Boyz, died this
morning after suffering a massive heart attack.

Starr, a makeup artist and personal stylist, was pronounced dead at
Eisenhower Medical Center.

"The desert has lost one of its favorite residents today," Janet
Newcomb, Beauty Boyz's publicist said in a statement announcing the
news.

Later, a shaken Newcomb remembered Starr as a "marvelous person and
character. He loved life."

Starr and partner Ed Russell, the studio's chief operating officer
opened the Palm Desert studio on El Paseo and, with its motto "Be
seen. Be beautiful," quickly built a client list of celebrities and
Coachella Valley notables.

But the studio on El Paseo was just the latest chapter in a career
working with the stars of music and Hollywood.

Starr began his career in Los Angeles working for pop diva Diana Ross
and his resume was a who's who that included such luminaries as
Elizabeth Taylor, Eva Gabor, Mae West, Tammy Wynette, Connie Francis
and comedienne Totie Fields.
