Seeking date of death for J. GORDON WHITEHEAD

I doubt anyone can help on this one, since there isn't even a
Wikipedia entry on this guy! But let's try anyway:

But you may recall that Whitehead was the McGill University student
who, on or about Thursday, October 21, 1926--the same week that Chuck
Berry was born (Monday) and Eugene Debs died (Wednesday)--in Montreal
famously punched Houdini several times (with the magician's
permission) who at that moment was reclining on a backstage couch
while posing for another McGill student's sketch of the entertainer.

Any idea how or where Whitehead died--assuming he's not still alive at
105 or so? And whether he was perhaps related to Schwepp's
spokescommodore Commander Whitehead?

Sure would like to see find photo of the older Whitehead, too; should
be possible, since he didn't merely fade into obscurity, but indeed
testified at an inquest following Houdini's demise on Sunday
afternoon, October 31, 1926 in Room 401 of Grace Hospital in Detroit.

below, J. Gordon Whitehead died in 1954. Nothing more specific,
though.
