LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Actor Bert Kramer, a familiar face on television for
decades with appearances on such shows as "Mission: Impossible,'' "Mannix,''
"Kojak,'' "The Six Million Dollar Man'' and "The Rockford Files,'' died June 20
from complications due to cancer. He was 66.
Kramer, who last appeared in a lead role as Joseph in the 1999 movie "The
Confession,'' may have been best known for his decades of television work. He
portrayed Alex Wheeler in the daytime drama "Texas,'' golf pro Brent Davis in
"The Young and the Restless'' and Emmet Ferguson in the western series "Sara.''
He also played the steelworker patriarch of a middle-class Michigan family in
the CBS series "The Fitzpatricks"
One of his first movie roles was in "Lady Sings the Blues'' in 1972. He played
Martin Hayworth in "Street Corner Justice'' in 1996 and the Los Angeles fire

Aw, crap-and-a-half! Bert was one hell of a guy, a wonderful actor and a
really sweet man. I gunned him down on the second episode of the old Lee
Horsley Western series "Paradise," and I can't remember meeting a nicer man.
We had had the same agent at one time, and we spent a lot of time
complaining about that worthy person's failings. I remember he wore a
mustache most of the time, but had shaved it and now, for "Paradise," they
wanted him to wear one, so he had to have a fake one glued on every morning.
That was about 1990. I didn't see much of Bert again until last year, when
we both appeared in the Young Playwrights' Festival at the Blank Theatre in
Hollywood. He had lost a lot of weight and seemed to have some difficulty
remembering things, and he said he had been ill for some time, but was back
on track. That was twelve months ago. I'm really sorry to hear of his
death. Terrific guy, fine actor, great face. You might not know his name,
but you'd probably know his face.
RIP

He was Iris's one true love & Dennis's father! [AW, TEXAS, the Wheeler
in Iris Carrington Wheeler] as well as Ashley's biological father on
Y&R. Too young!

>Can't find a face photo of Bert, anyone have one out there?
There's a tiny head shot of him in the latest SOAP OPERA DIGEST & I
recognized him all over again the instant I saw it.
