Mario Lanza & Wife Death Details?

wife? As I recall he died in the late 50's of an alleged heart attack when
he checked into a hospital to lose weight. The other story says that he was
requested by a Mafia Don to do a free concert. Mario supposedly refused and
"somehow" his IV began pumping only air into his veins, bringing on his
heart attack at age 38 or so.
Then, as I recall, a few months later his wife (Betty?) died from swallowing
her tongue.
Bizarre story all around. Can anybody point me to the actual details?

His answer to my query was:
"Betty Lanza died on 11th March 1960, from the PM it was
reported that she had a high concentration of alcohol in her blood but
not anywhere near enough to be fatal, the actual cause has not been made
public which is a pity because it could have put to rest the persistent
rumours. After Mario died she lost all her interest in life and showed
no interest at all in anything much at all except her grief."
I thought it was very nice of him to take time to answer my question.
