Jane Garrison Stone Dies; Widow of 'Gunsmoke' Star

SOLANA BEACH, Calif. (AP) -- Jane Garrison Stone, widow of actor Milburn Stone,
who starred as Doc Adams on the TV series "Gunsmoke," died Sunday. She was 89.

Stone died at her home in nearby Rancho Sante Fe about 20 miles north of San
Diego.

Stone was office manager and secretary for Ralph Edwards, host of the TV series
"This is Your Life.''

She was born in Hutchinson, Kansas, and moved to California to study at the
Pasadena Playhouse.

Her husband, who grew up in nearby Burrton, Kansas, appeared on "Gunsmoke"
during its entire 20-year tenure. He died in 1980, five years after the
classic series left the air.

I guess her position was instrumental in her husband and "Miss Kitty" being in
a parade for Truth or Consequences, NM. Here's a page about it:

Just to pick a nit...the date of the parade on the site is wrong. Couldn't
have been 1953. "Gunsmoke" started on TV in 1955. Amanda Blake & Milburn
Stone didn't play Kitty & Doc on radio (that was Georgia Ellis *& Howard
McNear).
There's a theatre named for Milburn Stone at Towson College in Maryland.

Which Sunday did she die? As I'm reading this in CA where it says she died,
it's 4:25PM, Saturday afternoon.
