I always thought Buono's death was a heart attack.

It would be safe to assume that Victor Buono probably had a heart attack. He
was heavy all of his life and at the age of 43, his heart gave out. I was just
out in San Diego and went to his gravesite.
He is buried in a outdoor crypt, but to this day, his name was never put on it.
I've thought of buying it myself since I have always been a huge fan of
Victor's. But again, whatever relatives are left probably have some reason for
not having a name plate.

Speaking of unmarked graves, what about Roy Orbison? One of the biggest
names in music, and the guy doesn't even have a headstone. Incredible.

And John Candy's crypt still doesn't have his name on it. I heard
rumors that he was only put there temporarily until another place was
made form him in Canada, but it's been an awfully long time since John
died...

Well, that's the case with John Wayne. His people were paranoid about
someone desecrating his grave (given the political friction during the
60's). Personally, I don't think they had anything to worry about. It's
been over 20 years since Vietnam, and I don't think anyone today wants
to pick on the Duke's corpse...

But I have no idea what is going on with Roy Orbison. A person who
works at Westwood Memorial told me that Roy's family originally told
them that they planned to have a headstone custom-made for Roy's grave,
complete with the names of his hit songs on it. But they never did. He
didn't understand why. I suspect that time passed, and they perhaps
they've just been negligent about it. But I can't say for sure.
Whatever the case, they should give the man a headstone!

Candy, I have no idea. I've been to his crypt, and there's no sign that
he's there (above Fred). If someone at the cemetery hadn't told me
where he was, I never would have known... Considering that John's crypt
is indoors, virtually inside a Catholic chapel, I don't think they have
much reason to worry about grave robbers. Who the heck disliked John
Candy ?!? It's time to either move him to Canada or put his name on the
crypt.

I don't think *disliked* is the problem. It's some raving fan who loved John
C. and wants to keep him on the mantleplace to awe their friends or use his
remains as guest-of-honor in some satanic rites or something.

Didn't someone steal Charlie Chaplin's bones not too long ago? (Someone
correct me on this if it wasn't CC.... and were the remains ever recovered?)

As I recall, Chaplin's bones were stolen and held for ransom. And his
family took the attitude "Hey, what do we care? They are only bones.
Keep 'em". The robbers realizing that they had nothing of value
returned them.

Are you telling me that they buried him in Westwood and put his
headstone/marker up in Tennessee??

I dont know what year he died/was stolen, and at 5 am I cant even
remember his name Graham Parker?? Something like that. He died of a
drug overdose and wanted to be creamated and his ashes spread over a
park. His family disagreed so his friends stole his body and tried to
cremate him with gasoline. They were charged with theft of the casket
cuz it's not illegal to steal a body.

Now *that* is ironic humor at its best.
Bet Chaplin would have loved it.

New Wave musician Graham Parker of Graham Parker and the Rumour? I think he's
still alive.

They should have checked with Michael Jackson first. He probably would have
given them something for their trouble.

I believe I read somewhere that Benny Hill's body was stolen a while ago. I
would have to look further in to it.

I believe the actor George Tobias' corpse was stolen right off the hearse.
But I can't remember the details. Anyone?

Speaking of unmarked graves, can anyone relate a brief history of the Evita Peron travelling corpse story? Is it true the true body of
Evita Peron was never recovered and someone else is buried in her tomb? There's supposed to be a great book out on exactly this story,
and I can't remember the name.

Close :-). Gram Parsons died in 1973. He was a
singer/songwriter/guitarist/keyboard player who had been in The Byrds
and the Flying Burrito Brothers as well as having a solo career.
And _technically_ it was a heart attack that killed him -- at the age
of (I think) 27. The attempted (not completely successful) cremation
took place near Joshua Tree in the California desert. As you said,
his friends had stolen his body from LA International Airport in order
to comply with Parsons' own wishes instead of what his family wanted.

Talking about unmarked graves..there was a programme on t.v. here about a
couple of years ago about some-one trying to find the graves in Bolivia
of Butch Cassidy & Sundance I can't remember much about this (Senility
setting in again) but I don't think the bodies were where they were
suppose to be, can any-one confirm or add any-thing to this?
