thanks in advance
Froggy was run over in a motor scooter accident in 1948. He really did
talk like that.
Scotty killed himself in a drug overdose in 1968 that was ruled an
accident despite repeated attempts and a suicide note.
Weezer was killed in a basic training accident during World War 2, around
1942-43.
Chubby died in 1935, not long after his appearances in the Our Gangs
ended.
Buckwheat died in 1980, just before Eddie Murphy made him a household name
again.
Stymie died between 1979-81. He can be seen in The Buddy Holly Story if
you look during the hotel scene while traveling with the black band.
Darla killed herself in 1979.
Spanky died of a heart attack in 1993 shortly after appearing on one of
the last episodes of Cheers. I was lucky enough to see his actual beanie
he wore in person as a few weeks later some stole it at the college he was
speaking at. He never recovered it.
Robert Blake, Porky, Butch, Waldo, Woim, Mary Anne, Joe Cobb, Jackie
Cooper and a few others are still alive. Petey the dog isn't
Butch, in fact, was on QVC plugging Little Rascals tapes. He looked like
James Carville's great-uncle. :)

The last I heard (long time ago) Porky was doing films for the Dept. of
Transportation. He is a friend of my Aunts. I hope he is still alive.
I had the pleasure of spending the envening with him in Phoenix many
years ago.

Well I saw Mr. Mcfarland on Good Morning America two weeks before he
died. He said Darla had died of cancer, but not before becomming a
grandmother.
I can see it now:
Mom to little girl: Sue, don't watch OUR GANG
Sue to mom" Why Not Mommy
Mommy: Because, that mean Alfalfa did something wrong and got himself
shot.
Susie: But these are funny, Daddy and grandfather say you watched them
too.
Mom:So what?
Thankfully, we have the right to say Alfalfa's murder was NOT justified
and I hope THAT's not the reason OUR GANG';s been removed (racism and
slapstick was the reason)
If LITTLE RASCALS was pulled because Alfalfa's death was justified then I
wouldn't watch the station that did that again.
Or a station that caved in to anti-Fatty Arbuckle boycotts!
(Not that HIS films were shown recently!)

I saw Spanky McFarland in person during a speaking engagement at a local
college in June of 1985 and he stated that Darla had committed suicide.
He had kept in touch with her and said that the rumors that she had killed
herself was true. Maybe she was depressed due to her medical condition,
as he didn't go into any details other than to say she was very depressed.
He was a wonderful man and I have a picture of him holding his beanie
just a few short months before some evil bastard stole it him at another
college. He never recovered it. He returned to our local college shortly
before he died. I forgot he was coming or I would have went again. He
showed his old films and told some great stories. He and the surviving
Rascals made a bunch of money suing Hanna Barbara over using their names
and likenesses in a cartoon without permission. A court ruled while HB
bought the rights to the Little Rascals series, they didn't have the right
to use the actual Little Rascals. He said they were very happy with the
settlement. He also resented Robert Blake for making fun of the Rascals
on a Saturday Night Live sketch and hated Eddie Murphy making fun of
Buckwheat.

He is listed in credits as "Slave". That's it.

He also played a Mexican urchin in "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre".

The OUR GANG films have _not_ been pulled -- for any reason. The later,
MGM-produced films run daily on Ted Turner's cable outlets, and the earlier
ones by Hal Roach still show up almost everywhere, although perhaps not as
frequently as they did thirty years ago.
And none of the films were racist, for heaven's sake; they were certainly
more civil and caring about racial differences than THE JEFFERSONS ever
was. And since when is "slapstick" a reason to pull a film?

This is not true. Big chunks of a number of films were removed and never
broadcast since the mid-50s. Spanky would discuss this at his speeches
and played a number of the films including Washee/Ironee (which gets it's
name from a racist chinese dry cleaner who is asked to clean the boys
football uniforms-he keeps going Washee Ironee over and over. The title
of the film made no sense with out this scene and it was never aired on
TV). As some posted earlier, Butch was on QVC selling the uncut
uncensored copies of the films, which can be bought from Cabin Fever home
video or rented at any Blockbuster. Rent Washee Ironee and you will see
the racist scenes.
