In addition, Veronica's first husband, Mr. John Detlie, has been searching
for his daughter by Ms. Lake, Elaine Detlie (or her married name of
Berger), for the last fifty years. Any help in this matter would also be
greatly appreciated.
Any information regarding the above may be sent to gam...@ix.netcom.com.
Thanks.

According to one reference book I have, it indicates she was cremated and
ashes were scattered at sea among the Virgin Islands.
The family members should be able to get copies of her death certificate,
which should indicate what happened to her, where she's buried (if the
above info is not accurate) or if she was cremated and even possibly that
her ashes were scattered (although I do not know if this information
would be on a death certificate)?
Hope this info helps...

I've always been a big fan of VL. I wish she were around for me to
interview for my book about her SO PROUDLY WE HAIL! costar, George Reeves.
I hope you have luck with this.

If anyone out there can help Mr. Detlie (and my own curiosity) about where
his daughter by Ms Lake, Elaine Detlie, can be located, it would be a
significant discovery and a great source of satisfaction for Mr. Detlie,
who last saw her when he and Veronica divorced (Elaine was about three
years old). I have been able to determine that Elaine joined a religious
society call Subud, changed her name to Ruth Berger (she married an
advertising exec. in New York named Maynard Berger) and moved to New
Zealand in the late sixties or early seventies. From that point on, no one
has been able to trace her. Any info can be sent to gam...@ix.netcom.com
or to this newsgroup.
Many thanks.

You might want to try a people search at Yahoo!
http://www.yahoo.com/search/people/
They only list people living in the United States, but it's possible she
moved back to the states.
Just a long shot, but thought I'd suggest it nevertheless!
Good luck and let us all know if she's located!

How about switchboard.com or Phonefile?

How about "Unsolved Mysteries". The host, Robert Sta ck, probably knew
Veronica Lake and would be glad to help. That program always is finding
lost relatives and I think this would have enough interest for the
audience. Good luck.
Does Mrs. Berger want to be found? If she moved to New Zealand and has
refused to communicate with her father for maybe thirty years, then maybe
she wants to be left alone. If so, her privacy should be respected.
