A service of thanksgiving for the life of the actress Charmian May was
held at St Paul's, Covent Garden, 23 May, 2003.

The Rev Mark Oakley officiated. Anna Carteret read "If I Should Die"
by Joyce Grenfell, and Donald Sartain read an appreciation from Canon
William Hall, of the Actors' Church Union.

Roger Hammond read "Christmas" by Sir John Betjeman and Auriol Smith
read from "Ellen" by Charmian May and Roger Hume. David Henry read
from "My Fair Lady" and Caroline John read a Seventeenth-Century Nun's
Prayer. Patrick Garland read "Friends Beyond" by Thomas Hardy, and
Jeremy Young read "Song for an April Dusk" by Dorothy Parker. Jane
Freeman read from Shakespeare's Hamlet, and Bernard Gallagher read
"Regret Not Me" by Thomas Hardy. Marcia Warren and Christopher Dunham
paid tribute.
