miner. He left home at 16 and joined the British Army.
Alderson arrived in Hollywood in 1949, and his British accent quickly
got him acting work. He appeared in many Western tele-vision series of
the 1950s and '60s: "The Californians," "Wagon Train," "Maverick,"
"Gunsmoke," "Have Gun Will Travel," "Bonanza," "Death Valley Days" and
"The Wild, Wild West." Alderson eventually emerged as a character actor
in such films as "To Catch a Thief" "My Fair Lady," "Double Trouble,"
"Blazing Saddles," "Ragtime," "Evil Under the Sun" and "Young Guns II."
He retired in 1995. (Hollywood reporter)
