Former Miss West Virginia USA Vickie Myers was found dead by her
father in her Parkersburg home on Sunday.
Parkersburg City Councilman James Myers said he went to check on his
daughter Sunday afternoon after he couldn't reach her on the phone.
"When I got up there, the door was locked. I went on in, and her
little puppy was barking," Myers said. "When she didn't answer her
door, I knew something was wrong."
Myers said he found his daughter on the bed, with her head between the
wall and a plastic potted plant. She had apparently suffocated, he
said.
Parkersburg Police Chief Gerald E. Board said that there was no
indication of foul play.
"The house was secure, and nothing was in disarray to indicate a
struggle," Board said.
Myers, 39, worked as an art teacher as Parkersburg High School.
In 1991, she beat out 32 other contestants to be crowned 1992 Miss
West Virginia USA.
Within the last two years, Myers had been arrested three times on
drunken driving charges.
She was looking at some jail time.
