Lady Russell, who died in hospital, 30 October, 2002, was the widow of
Sir John Wriothesley Russell, GCVO, CMG, [1914-84] successively
British Ambassador to Ethiopia, Brazil and Spain.

She was Aliki Diplarakos, daughter of George Diplarakos, of Athens,
and was a Greek beauty queen who became *Miss Europe*.

She married firstly, in 1932, Commandant Paul-Louis Weiller,
[1893-1993], the multi-billionaire industrialist and philanthropist
with business concerns and properties throughout the world.

Aliki was the second of Weiller's wives. His first wife had been
Princess Alexandra Ghika, whose ancestors dug the first oil wells in
Romania.

Her marriage to Weiller ended in divorce, and on 15 December, 1945,
she married the then John Wriothesley Russell, son of Sir Thomas
Wentworth Russell, KBE, CMG, grandson of Lord Charles James Fox
Russell, and great-grandson of the 6th Duke of Bedford.

Her second husband was Ambassador to Ethiopia, 1962-66; to Brazil
1966-69; and to Spain 1969-74. He was appointed KCVO in 1965, and
advanced to GCVO 1968. He died in 1984.

Lady Russell leaves a son from her first marriage, Paul-Annik
Weiller, who became a director of GEC, and married Princess Olympia
Torlonia, a granddaughter of Alfonso XIII, King of Spain; and two
children from her second marriage, Alexander Russell, and Georgiana
Russell [once tipped as a possible bride for the Prince of Wales] -
she is now Lady Boothby, wife of Sir Brooke Charles Boothby, 16th
Baronet.

Lady Russell also leaves nine grandchildren, and seven
great-grandchildren.

The funerals service takes place at St Sophia Greek Orthodox
Cathedral, Moscow Road, London W2, at 11 a.m. on 7 November, 2002.

In fact, her eldest son, Paul-Annik Weiller, who was b. 1933, died 3 Nov. 1998.

According to the Daily Mail, 30 January, 1978, Lady Russell won the
Miss Europe title for Greece in 1931. I had no idea that Beauty
Contests stretched that far back into history.

Yet another correction. Sir John was a great-great grandson of the 6th
Duke of Bedford. I have skipped a generation.

6th Duke= [ii] Lady Georgiana Gordon--->>Lord Charles James Fox
Russell =Isabella Davies--->>Rev. Henry Charles Russell = Hon. Leila
Willoughby---->>Sir Thomas Wentworth Russell = Evelyn Moore---->>Sir
John Wriothesley Russell, GCVO [1914-84]
