A teen from the South Shore Charter Public School apparently became a
victim of the week's torrential rains when the speeding car she was
in hydroplaned into the path of a mini-van loaded with kids in Plympton
yesterday.
Victoria "Torri" Wightman, 16, was the daughter of noted Boston
burlesque dancer Princess Cheyenne.
Police said Victoria Wightman, 16, was in the backseat of a 1999
Oldsmobile on Route 106 when it hit a flooded area and spun into the
path of an oncoming Honda minivan. Wightman was pronounced dead at the
scene about 11 a.m. Three other girls in the car, all 18, were
seriously injured. The van's driver was treated for minor injuries.
Her three children, ages 2 to 6, were taken to South Shore Hospital for
evaluation.
Lucy Wightman, also known as Princess Cheyenne, was a fixture on
the Boston stage for years, and was briefly engaged to folk singer Cat
Stevens.

> Dancer's daughter dies on rain-soaked road.
'Singing in The Rain' came to mind immediately. Then as I read
the article I began to wonder about the noise level in each vehicle -
one packed with teenage girls, radio blaring, (speculation) - the
other littered with trantrum-ready infants and a mom behind the wheel
struggling to concentrate on the road. People talk about cellphones
being a dangerous road distraction. What about noise level within the
vehicle itself? Has the time come to ban radios and children from our
vehicles? Just to be fair we could amend the law to allow children to
ride as long as Mom agrees to have them properly strapped into their
seats with their mouths taped shut.

Good article from January about the ex-Princess here (with a couple of
