Esther Ann Jarvis, Racine Unified's oldest and longest serving
teacher died on Tuesday. She was 77.
Jarvis started at Horlick High School in 1953 and spent her career
teaching English and other subjects to generations of that school's
students.
She suffered a heart attack at her desk at school on Monday morning and
died the next day, according to school officials.
She was not married; Horlick was her family, according to Principal
Nola Starling-Ratliff. The school was planning a memorial service for
later this week.
"Her life was Horlick High School," Starling-Ratliff said.
"Ann had given her life to education, and everyone admired her
dedicated service to education and to young people," said Linda
Flashinski, Unified's interim director of communications. "The
deepest sympathy of the district goes out to Ann's family and many
friends. She will be missed."

<snicker>
But seriously, coming from a family of teachers, it sounds like she
was quite well-liked and loved her career. RIP.
