Nancy was born in Scotland and was a part of the skiffle revolution in
the
UK in the 1950s. She had a big hit with Elizabeth Cotton's song Freight
Train.

RIP Nancy.

Being from Scotland, wasn't "Whisky" the more likely spelling of her last name? She must have taken her name from the song "Nancy Whisky" which first appeared in print c. 1900. How old was Nancy anyway? I can't find an obit searching on Google.

That's where she got the name. Her actual name was Anne
Alexandra Young Wilson. However, IIRC, the song was
originally called "Calton Weaver." But I know it has been
recorded as "Nancy Whiskey."

The song "Calton Weaver" dates at least back to the 18th
century.

Evelyne Beers, Ian & Sylvia and Ewan MacColl have all
recorded great versions of this song.

The spelling variation depends on who or where the song
was recorded.

Nancy Whiskey was 67.
