Dave Reinhart, the former WSAI-AM DJ and WLW-AM manager, died Sunday in
the Orlando area after a long battle with muscular system atrophy, a
degenerative neurological disorder. He was 67. Reinhart worked at old
WSAI on West 8th street in Price Hill, left radio for a while to become
a stockbroker, and returned to be a weekend DJ at WLW, and later WLW-AM
program director in the 1980s as the boss of John Phillips, Pat Barry,
Gary Burbank, Andy Mac, Bob Trumpy and others. Rhino helped oversee
the transition of 700 under Randy Michaels from music to talk. He headed
to Tampa in the late 1980s or early 1990s, where he was a Clear Channel
market manager and regional VP over stations in WFLZ-FM (the Power Pig)
and other stations Tampa, Sarasota and Bradenton. All Access says he
retired in 1993, but thats wrong. He retired in about 2005, says his
son Scott Reinhart, manager of WEBN-FM and Clear Channels FM operations
director here. Rhino lived in Lady Lake, Fla., about an hour north of
Orlando, with his wife, Joanie.

One former coworker tells All Access that Dave was more like a dad than
a boss. He was a remarkable mentor and friend, and many of us owe a
great deal to him. Says John Phillips, the former WLW traffic reporter
now managing the Tribune Tower in Chicago for Randy Michaels: You wont
find a man with more integrity, loyalty, or management talent. He took
such good care of us, truly one of the finest people well ever call a
friend. Im guessing that others who worked for Rhino here will say
the same thing. He was universally loved and respected in radio here.

A celebration of Daves life will be Saturday in Florida. See the
tribute page at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services site. Theres also a
Facebook page too.
