He is also survived by his widow,by a son,Cody, who at two years and
eight months of age becomes heir apparent to Lord Glenconner(who
turns 70 December 1),and by his parents(his mother,eldest daughter
of the 5th Earl of Leicester, was a Trainbearer at the Queen's Coronation
and has been a longtime attendant to Princess Margaret) and twin
younger sisters. He had been disinherited, according to the PA reports
(though this would not affect succession to the title)...no idea if
his death prompts His Lordship to make further testamentary arrangements.
The family's misfortunes prompted a 1990 SPECTATOR article,"The Fall of
the House of Tennant"...the family fortunes were made by his
great-great-grandfather,Sir Charles Tennant(1823-1906),who built an
ironworking empire(C. Tennant Sons & Co.) and fathered 16 children
in the space of 54 years, the last of whom(Baroness Eliot of Harwood,
first woman to speak in the Lords, and finally Margaret,Baroness
Wakehurst,DBE,whose death just missed 1995 Debrett) only died in
1994.Sir Charles survived his three eldest sons, who died without
sons;the fourth son(1859-1920) was the 1st Baron.
