Just one month after she lost her stepfather, Johnny Cash, to diabetes
and less than six months after her mother June Carter Cash passed away
from a heart failure, singer-songwriter Rosey Carter Nix Adams was
found dead inside a parked bus in Montgomery County, Tennessee. She
was 45 years old.
Adams’ body was discovered last Friday (October 24) alongside that of
Nashville bluegrass fiddle player James Campbell. Investigators have
labeled the deaths as suspicious and have ordered autopsies on the two
bodies. While they said carbon monoxide poisoning from six propane or
kerosene heaters was a likely cause of death, drug needles and pipes
were also found close to the bodies.
According to Launch News, the bus, which was parked behind the Adams’
Montgomery Country house for repairs, was initially suspected by
authorities to be a crystal methamphetamine lab, where such heaters
are used to cook the drug. Autographed photos of Johnny Cash and late
bluegrass musician Bill Monroe, who is believed to have previously
owned the bus, were also found on-board.
Adams and husband Phillip Adams had recently sold their Montgomery
County home and were planning to travel on the bus. A spokesperson for
the Cash and Carter family issued a statement saying that the family,
which includes Adams’ musician sister Carlene Carter, are deeply
saddened by the tragedy.

I know the one Nick Lowe married was named Carlene, but was she a full
sister or half-sister to this one? And is she still alive?

Half sisters. Carlene Carter's father was Carl Smith, a country
singer, and Rosie Adams' father was Ed Nix a cop.

They are half-sisters, J.D., Carlene's real full name is
"Rebecca Carlene Smith" from June's marriage to Cal Smith,
June's first husband. Rosey Nix Adams, is the daughter of June
and Richard "Rip" Nix, June's second husband. June met Johnny
Cash while the Carter family was traveling with him on the road
in 1961.

Full sister, I believe. She still lives, and her own recent drug
issues have been well-publicized, so when I saw the headlines for this
one without a name ("June Carter's daughter found dead"), I assumed
she'd been the one who died.

I also thought it would be Carlene. If I remember correctly Carlene and
member of Tom Petty and the Heart Breakers were arrested for heroin
possession. I believe he died a few months ago.
