David Foreman, who died September 19, 2022, aged 74, was an American environmentalist and author, he was a co-founder of Earth First! and a prominent member of the radical environmentalism movement.

The obits running should cite him as Dave Foreman; whatever else you might say about the late Foreman and his Punctuated! pals, he was a more nuanced activist than most of his comrades during his heyday--and I don't recall Foreman often being called David.
