crap. Donnie is one of my best friends. Papa Don has had cancer forever, but
was just too mean to let it get him down. I was hoping that he would pull
through.

Johnny and Edgar spell their last name as Winter.

The Winters Brothers Band were big regionally in the late 70's. They had one
album released on ATCO, The other album, produced by Paul Hornsby, never made
it to the shelves. The toured with Skynyrd, Charlie Daniels, Marshall Tucker
and others. The closest thing they had to a hit record was Sang Her Love
Songs which was big on KDF back during the day.

I am very sorry to hear this. I liked Don a lot.
I had a chance to interview Don about the years he worked with Marty Robbins when I
was writing my book about Marty. Don was a very nice guy and everyone loved him.

Geno, can you please put on any information about funeral arrangements and where to
send flowers when you see the information?
Thanks,
Barbara Pruett

I talked to his son Donnie today. It didn't come unexpected. Papa Don went
downhill really quick in the last two weeks. Saturday morning, Dennis called
Donnie and said "He's gone to be with Mama".

The visitation was happening today at some funeral home in South Nashville.
The newspaper in Bellevue TN, I think it's called the Bellevue Scene, but I
ain't sure, could give you all the info, as Paul, Donnie's wife, works there.

I was told that there was a nice writeup in teh Tennessean. I'll post it as
soon as I can find it.

Obit @ Tennesseean.com { http://makeashorterlink.com/?L11252D81 }
says 73:

"Country music singer Don Winters, 73, known to fans as ''The
Yodeling King,'' died yesterday at his home in Nolensville after a
yearlong battle with liver cancer."
