Major Anthony Forbes, Younger of Rothiemay, late the Scots Guards, has
died in Norway, 9 September, 2003. He was aged 59.

Anthony David Knox Forbes was born 20 May, 1944, the second son of
Lieutenant-Colonel William John Herbert Forbes of Rothiemay, DSO,
Representor of the House of Forbes of Rothiemay, formerly of Dunira,
by Comrie, Perthshire, by his wife, the former Diana Burrell de Ker
Knox.

Anthony David Knox Forbes was descended from John Forbes, of Newe (6th
in descent from Sir William Forbes, 1st of Kynaldy & Pitsligo
(1419-46), and brother of Sir Alexander, who was created 1st Lord
Forbes, see extinct peerages, Forbes of Pitsligo.)

He was educated at Eton, and the Royal Military College, Sandhurst.

Career: Major, Scots Guards; Member of the Royal Company of Archers,
Queen's Body Guard for Scotland.

Maj. Forbes leaves a widow, Ryden, and a son, Iain, and daughter,
Anneli.

Does the son, as eldest grandson of the chief, now become "Younger of
Rothiemay" ?

I served under Anthony Forbes. He was a wonderfully mischievous but well regarded officer in the Scots Guards. Full of fun. I would like to make contact with his family. A personal friend of both Anthony and mine passed away today Feb 18, 2015.,,, Capt (MAA) Retd. Ken Carter BEM, Army Physical Training Corps and formerly Coldstream Guards. kencarte...@gmail.com Canada.
