David Lewis (ex-General Hospital) Death Confirmed

In the current issue (dated January 2, 2001) of Soap Opera Digest there is an
obituary for actor David Lewis, who used to play Edward Quartermaine on General
Hospital (not to be confused with the current portrayer, John Ingle). Snippets
from the piece:

Veteran actor David Lewis...died on December 11 in California after a long
illness. "He had been in pain for a long time, so in a sense, I was glad it was
over," shares Susan Brown (Gail, GH/Port Charles), who visited Lewis in the
hospital the week he died...
...Echoes Lewis' on-screen wife, Anna Lee (Lila, GH), "I saw him at his house
before he went into the hopsital, and he said, 'Anna, I don't enjoy life
anymore. I'd like to die.'
...In his last feature interview with Digest in 1992, Lewis discussed his
circulatory problems, which made it difficult for him to remember his lines and
ultimately led to his departure from GH in 1993...
...In lieu of a memorial service or flowers, Lewis requested that contributions
be made to the Motion Picture and Television Fund Foundation.
