His Honour (Charles) Raymond Dean, QC (1923-2003)
Michael Rhodes
of County Courts), 1971-78, Senior Circuit Judge, 1985-88, died at
Wakefield, West Yorkshire, 3 October, 2003. He was aged 80.
He was born 28 March, 1923, son of the late Joseph Irvin Gledhill
Dean, by his wife Lilian Waddington, and was educated at Hipperholme
Grammar School, & The Queen's College, Oxford University.
Career: RAF Flying duties, 1942-45, as a Flight-Lieutenant; BA
(Jurisprudence) 1947, MA, 1948; Called to the Bar, Lincoln's Inn,
1948; Deputy Chairman, West Riding Quarter Sessions, 1961-65; Recorder
of Rotherham, 1962-65; Recorder of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, 1965-70;
Recorder of Kingston-upon-Hull, 1970-71; &c.
Judge Dean, of Boston Spa, Yorkshire, was appointed QC in 1963.
He married in 1948, (Pearl) Doreen Buncall, by whom he had one son,
Anthony, and one daughter, Helen.
The funeral takes place at Boston Spa Methodist Church, Thursday 9
October, 2003.
